Hi, Meg. I have now reviewed all of your posts and I will give you an overview comment here. When I've finished reviewing all the blogs, I will email you a personalized rubric and your grade. Meg, you have about ten posts that are organized around a central theme: Iceberg, An Art Blog for Things that Go Unnoticed or Overlooked. The them and your own photography are, in my view, the highlights of your blog, and the Stickmen and Musical Lines lessons you’ve shared are also strengths. Your photography is delightful – you’ve chosen to let the images and the titles speak for themselves, and they do so powerfully, although I found myself wanting to ask you questions about your work to access the kind of information that you might put into an artist’s statement. Your lessons begin with an idea from elsewhere but then you add your own creative and organizational touches to make them work well for kids – I like your prompting question for the stickmen because it is simple and direct and obviously it “sparked” ideas for the children – this makes me think about what a powerful visual metaphor you have shared with us in your “Sparked an Idea” photograph. Also, it was neat that you extended the musical lines lesson to have students design their own unique frames. I encourage you to sing with children even though you don’t feel confident – there are YouTube videos, CDs and DVDs to use for support to help you get started. (For example, see the “Canada in my Pocket” YOuTube clip that Josie posted.) I think you will find that your confidence grows and the activity is important for so many children. I appreciate your comments about performing – you might have included other posts to document Performing Arts exploration. Finally, thanks for the links – I have added these sites to my favourites.
